Adolescents in Intensive Outpatient Program

Adolescent Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)

Helping Teens Build Resilience and Recovery

The Adolescent Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) at Center Point DAAC is a transformative program designed specifically for teens aged 13 to 17 who are struggling with substance use challenges. Our program provides the tools and support they need to begin their journey toward recovery and healthier choices, all while staying connected to their family, school, and community.

How the Program Works

Our Adolescent IOP offers a structured yet flexible treatment model combining telehealth sessions with occasional in-person activities to provide the best of both worlds—convenience and connection.

Key Features:

  • Curriculum: Evidence-based content, including the Matrix Model for Early Recovery & Relapse Prevention and the NIH’s Mind Matters curriculum.

  • Schedule: Six groups weekly, two 90-minute sessions each night, held on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays in the evenings (5:00–6:30 PM and 6:45–8:15 PM).

  • Individual Counseling or Therapy: One 60-minute individual counseling or therapy session each week.

  • Duration: A 10-week program that builds foundational recovery skills and addresses the unique challenges adolescents face.

  • Access to Mental Health Medication, Medication-Assisted Treatment, and Therapy. Our program can support teens with dual-diagnosis issues, mental health problems, and who are in need of medication-assisted treatment.

What Teens Will Learn

Our program, which utilizes the evidence-based Matrix Model for Teens, is carefully designed to address all aspects of recovery, including:

  1. Early Recovery Skills:

    • Recognizing triggers and stopping destructive cycles.

    • Building awareness and readiness for change.

    • Developing strategies for maintaining sobriety.

  2. Relapse Prevention:

    • Identifying internal and external triggers.

    • Building healthier habits and addressing guilt or shame.

    • Exploring relationships, communication, and future goals.

  3. Mind Matters Education:

    • Understanding the effects of substances like nicotine, marijuana, opioids, and more on the brain and body.

    • Developing critical thinking about substance use risks and decision-making.

Who Can Benefit from the Adolescent IOP?

This program is ideal for teens who:

  • Are beginning to struggle with substance use.

  • Need more support than traditional outpatient services but do not require residential treatment.

  • Want to develop skills to avoid relapse and build healthier lives.
